II. ONGOING SAFETY REVIEWS AND COMMUNICATION

    • Focus on topics in Sunstates "Safety Spotlights" or "Safety Works" newsletter distributed with paychecks ( from Corporate Safety )
  • Monthly: Safety training class or specific topic review
    • Completed by Site Manager and / or Supervisor(s)
    • Required annual training
    • Targeted training areas
    • " Lessons Learned "
  • As needed: Pre-job safety briefings
    • Held when work condition or environment changes for employee
    • Held for use of equipment in an unfamiliar area
    • Held if an unusual or abnormal job is to be completed
    • Held when safety concerns need to be addressed prior to starting a particular project or task
III. INCIDENT PREVENTION AND PROGRAM MAINTENANCE
  • Quarterly: Safety audits ( documented with score )
    • Completed by Corporate Safety Representatives only
    • Scores are plotted to track safety success at the site
    • Action items established for correction or review
  • Monthly: Manager meetings with regional safety representative
    • This is a target as schedules permit
    • Regional meetings are preferred with Area Manager in attendance where site locations permit
    • Discussions range from safety investigations / lessons learned to employee incentives and special projects
  • Periodic: Visits from regional safety representative.
    • To facilitate meetings with Site Manager, Supervisors, and customer representatives
    • Incident / accident investigation by Safety personnel if event presents any possibility of loss of any nature.
  • Periodic: Employee safety training by regional safety representative for special or priority topics
    • As needed for specialty and technical safety training programs
  • Periodic: Regional safety representative attends local employee safety meetings
    • As schedules and site geographic locations permit
    • Meet and greet employees
    • Discuss current events
